Something wicked this way comesSpring Year 744 of the new age
Deep in the Oakfern caverns
 Maeve was a very small fawn when her "friends" first came to visit. She had gotten separated from her mother and was utterly terrified. Two does black as a moonless night with eyes the color of fresh blood materialized in front of her. They looked like fawnlings but something was wrong. Their forms wriggled and writhed around the edges like the water mamma would bring up with her magic.
"Don't cry little one," the doe on the right whispered nuzzling the frightened filly.
"We will protect you," the doe on the left said almost as if she was finishing the sentence of the first.
"I am Macha," the doe who had been on the right said curling around the shivering Maeve.
"And I am her sister Badb," the doe on the left whispered giving a frightening approximation of a smile.
"We live to serve," they said in unison.
"Want mamma," Maeve managed to say looking up at them with her large violet eyes still fi Fawnling 6 bidDeidre looked up at the night sky wondering if Luan could see her tears. The herd had always treated her with thinly veiled contempt. Her mother had explained to her once when she was little that she was a very special fawn to be born with earth magic and she was destined for greatness. Several seasons had passed since then and nothing had changed, she was still forced to sleep at the very edge of the herd. It was likely that they'd hoped she'd be carried off by red foxes or some other predator; it was also likely that they were highly irritated that after five years she still was alive and trying to find her way in the confusing world she'd been born into. 
"Deidre?" A kind voice called out.
"Yes?" Deidre replied cautiously. The herd was known for playing nasty tricks on her that almost always led to her being injured in some way, shape, form or manner.
"Dusk of my dusk, why do you cry?" 
"Show yourself and I will answer," Deidre said, her voice quivered despite her efforts
